Key Dates for 2025 Municipal Election

  • Candidate Filing Period: June 2–6, 2025

  • Primary Election (if needed): August 12, 2025

  • General Election: November 4, 2025

  • Canvass of Election Results: November 18, 2025

 

Voting Methods

Hanksville’s municipal election is conducted by mail, with ballots mailed to all active registered voters approximately 21 days before the election.

You can either mail back your ballot (must be received by November 4th, 2025 or put it in the DROP BOX in person at:

  • Hanksville Town Office, 30 S SR 95, Hanksville, UT 84734
    DROP BOX for Ballot: 7:00 AM–8:00 PM on Election Day, November 4, 2025 -
    Early voting through a DROP BOX is available at the Hanksville Town Office from October 21–November 2, 2025, during normal business hours -Tuesdays through Thursdays, 10:00 AM–2:00 PM.

Becoming a Candidate

To run for municipal office in Hanksville (e.g., Mayor or Town Council), candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a U.S. citizen.

  • Be at least 18 years old on or before Election Day.

  • Be a registered voter of Hanksville.

  • Reside in Hanksville (or a recently annexed area) for 12 consecutive months before the election.

  • Not be convicted of a felony, treason, or crime against the elective franchise unless rights are restored (Utah Code 20A-2-101.3, 20A-2-101.5).

  • Not have been declared mentally incompetent.

Candidates must submit a Declaration of Candidacy in person at the Hanksville Town Office, 30 S SR 95, Hanksville, UT 84734, during the filing period of June 2 - 6, 2025 from 8am to 5pm. During regular office hours June 3 -5, 2025 10:00 AM–2:00 PM or if you need to file outside of regular clerk office hours, contact clerk Lisa Wells directly at 435-542-3411 to meet you at the clerk's office during the filing period. Filing period ends promptly on Friday, June 6th 2025 at 5pm. Conflict-of-Interest Disclosure are also required at the time of filing. Mandatory Campaign Financial Disclosure forms are required to be filed during the campaign cycle.

Voter Eligibility

To vote in Utah, you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen.

  • Be at least 18 years old on or before Election Day.

  • Be a resident of Hanksville or Wayne County for at least 30 days before the election.

  • Not be a convicted felon currently incarcerated.​
